Refilling a Canon Plotter: PFI-050 Ink for imagePROGRAF TC-20 and TC-5200
Teilen
The compact large-format printers Canon imagePROGRAF TC-20, TC-20M, TC-21 and TC-5200 are popular with architects, engineering firms and schools. They print plans up to A1 size and – like ink tank printers – are refilled from bottles. The suitable ink is designated PFI-050.
Why pigment ink for plans?
Technical drawings must be razor-sharp, waterproof and lightfast – especially when plans are hung up on construction sites. Pigment ink delivers exactly that. Find out more in Pigment ink or dye ink?
How to refill
- Switch on the plotter and wait until it is ready for operation.
- Open the tank cover and open only the tank for the required colour.
- Shake the bottle briefly so that the pigments are evenly distributed.
- Pour the ink in slowly and stop at the upper mark.
- Close the tank, close the cover and – if the plotter asks – confirm the ink level.
Tips for plotters
- Do not let it run dry: If the ink level drops too low, air can enter the system. Bleeding the system consumes a lot of ink.
- Print regularly: Plotters that sit idle for weeks are prone to clogged printheads. A small test print once a week helps.
- Never mix ink types: Only the designated ink should be used in each tank.
